Independent MP said to make "crass and right wing" interventions in Your Party debates

Adnan Hussain is a British solicitor who was elected Independent Member of Parliament (MP) for Blackburn in the UK/General election/2024 on 4 July 2024.[1]

Independent Alliance

Two months after his election, Hussain joined the Independent Alliance parliamentary group that was formed on 2 September 2024 by Jeremy Corbyn, former Leader of the Labour Party, alongside Shokat Adam, Ayoub Khan and Iqbal Mohamed.

Your Party

Following the founding of Your Party by Zarah Sultana and Jeremy Corbyn in July 2025, Hussain expressed his support for the initiative. On 31 July 2025, Adnan Hussain was appointed company secretary of Your Party UK Limited.[2]

Your Party was registered with the Electoral Commission on 30 September 2025. Jeremy Corbyn was registered as Leader, Adnan Hussain as Nominating Officer and Dr Marion Roberts as Treasurer.[3]

Crass and right wing

On 30 October 2025, Counterfire published an article by Michael Lavalette who wrote:

Earlier this week, Independent Alliance MP Adnan Hussain outraged activists in a tweet that suggested that far-right activists and anti-fascist protestors were essentially the same. Hussain’s interventions into the various Your Party debates have been remarkably crass and right wing, emphasising that the IA MPs, elected on a pro-Palestine ticket have (with the exception of Corbyn) got very weak politics.

Hussain’s attack on anti-fascists follows IA members’ recent interventions such as expressing support for rogue landlords and calling for troops to break the bin strike in Birmingham.

The Your Party project is now in grave danger of collapse, or being reduced to a small rump left-wing electorally focused minor party. Urgent action is needed to change direction and make YP the kind of party we need.[4]

Hussain was admitted as a solicitor in August 2022. From 2017 to 2025 he was a director at Bank View Solicitors in Blackburn, Lancashire. He is a director of two small private companies dealing in real estate.<[5]

In the Register of Members' Financial Interests, Hussain has declared shareholdings of over 15% in five companies and ownership of two residential properties in Burnley that provide a rental income of more than £10,000 a year.[6]
