Bolivia is a nation state in South America, led by the President of Bolivia.
History
Bolivia is a former Spanish colony.
Cash crops
Bolivia is important in the production of cocaine for export. In 2008, Bolivian President Evo Morales kicked out the US ambassador and the DEA. Since then, Bolivia managed to reduce coca leaf cultivation drastically. According to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, total production of dried coca leaf fell 11 percent [1] from 2013 to 2014, and has fallen by an average of nearly 10 percent each year since 2011 [2] "I could mention many countries in the world where there is this problem and how it has grown with U.S. presence. They're using the fight against drug trafficking for clear political purposes" said president Evo Morales.[3]
Coups
2019
President Evo Morales was ousted in 2019 during the election, when the military backed by the US forced Morales to resign. The mercenary Jordan Goudreau, involved in similar machinations in Venezuela in 2020, let slip that the either US mercenary companies or the Green Berets were covertly in the background during the coup. "There's no fighting, right? There's no nobody's fighting anybody. Furthermore, we establish this junta in order to bring about some semblance of leadership and fair and free elections. This is essentially what they did in Bolivia. We're just there. We're not there to govern or do anything. We're not doing conducting military operations. We're working kind of like you're trained to do in any special operation capacity for a Green Beret, which is to train, advise and assist".[4]
2024
In June 2024 a coup was attempted[By whom?],[5] "its second in just five years, and according to the Argentine newspaper El Cronista, its 36th since gaining independence from Spain" 199 years previously.[6] It failed. It was not widely reported in the commercially-controlled media.
