Own words

CLES was established in 1986 to work towards a future where local economies benefit people, place and the planet.

Activities

CLES partners as equals with all levels of government, local institutions and communities — challenging outdated methods and tackling local issues with practical, long-term solutions. Combining on-the-ground expertise, evidence-based research and advisory services, CLES supports community wealth building, improves public services, strengthens social infrastructure, accelerates innovation and facilitates a just climate transition.

CLES also hosts events and develops relationships that facilitate knowledge exchange between local practitioners.[1]
