Conor Anthony McGregor is an Irish professional mixed martial artist and political activist. McGregor has become a lightning rod for the supposed "right" in Ireland, and claims to represent "The People", despite having called for military-grade Lockdowns during Covid. His promotion by mainstream alternative media like Tucker Carlson may be a ploy to make Irish opposition to the current regime look like violent thugs.
Background
McGregor was born 1988, he grew up in the Dublin suburb of Crumlin. He went to Irish speaking schools and played football.[1] He started boxing at age 12. He did a plumbing apprenticeship for a year, but found it to be not to his liking.
Sports career
McGregor later transitioned from football to boxing and then mixed martial arts (MMA), becoming a world-famous fighter. He was UFC and CWFC Featherweight and Lightweight champion simultaneously.
Has faced charges for assault, disorderly conduct, driving offences and rape.
He was found guilty of rape in civil case with €248,000 in damages[2]. The legal costs were awarded against him for €1.5m and he lost a number of sponsorship deals.[3]
Political activities
McGregor has become a lightning rod for the supposed "right" in Ireland, and claims to represent "The People", fespite the fact that he:
- Called for military-grade Lockdowns[4] during the Covid Initiative.
- Eschewed numerous rape claims, muddying the waters with claims of “It was only in a civil case.” when found guilty.[5]
- Punched a bystander[6] in a bar for not drinking his whiskey, Smashed up a bus injuring it’s passengers, and smashed some guy’s phone.[7]
- Shows no criticism of Zionists in their Gaza genocide.
- Was interviewed by Tucker Carlson in the Mason’s[8] Hall in Dublin.
- Makes Irish opposition to the current Regime look like violent degenerates.
- Pretends that he can fix Ireland as President, despite the fact that it isn’t an executive role- Merely a figurehead role.[9]
Presidential bid
McGregor seeks to capitalise on his new-found status as someone who, many assume, knows what he's talking about; Wielding authority merely due to the fact that he's famous. This is why he feels that an Irish Presidential bid (which is a NON-executive role) has a possibility of succeeding.[10]
Cult of personality
McGregor has play pied piper to his massive following who don't seem to care much about his true intentions or track record. McGregor has signed up to a multitude of contracts with various big commercial sponsors and therefore cannot to be said to hold independent opinions, though he has lost some sponsorship due to various controversies; However this has only been under the most severe public embarrassment.
He constantly speaks about himself like he's special, revealing a level of narcissism that is unprecedented even in this current age. Here are some of the quotations[11] from the man himself in the Irish "Independent" newspaper:
- “I am humble to those who know me. I am arrogant to those who doubt me. And I am ruthless to those who fight me.”
- “There is no act. This is who I am.”
- “Each time I win, I pulverise my opponent.”
- “I am pound for pound the best fighter on the planet.”
- “I will wipe away the tears with my money.”
- “I remain victorious, cash their hard-earned money and wipe my ass with it.”
