Darrell M. Blocker is a former US spook who worked for 28 years with the Central Intelligence Agency, including as Chief of Station, deputy director of the "CIA Counterterrorism Center" (CTC) under Michael D'Andrea, and later Chief of the Africa Division.[1][2]

Activities

Blocker was a CIA case officer Chief of Station, deputy director of the "CIA Counterterrorism Center" (CTC) under Michael D'Andrea, and later Chief of the Africa Division. Subsequently, he went on to lead the CIA training division at Camp Peary, Virginia, better known as "The Farm". Throughout his 28-year career, Blocker was active in 10 countries, among them Senegal, Burundi, Uganda (undercover; beginning in 2003), Niger, Nigeria, Somalia, Morocco, and Pakistan.

He converted to Judaism in 2017, shortly before his retirement.[3]

Blocker was on a shortlist of candidates President-elect Joe Biden was considering to lead the CIA. If selected, he would have been the agency’s first Black director — and the third Jewish one.[4]
