Dead intelligence chief
In August 2026 Ecuador's intelligence chief Michele Sensi-Contugi, his wife, fashion designer and US citizen Stephany Hollihan, and three others were killed in a helicopter that crashed at Mount Ololokwe in central Kenya. Michele Sensi-Contugi was a close ally of president (and alleged drug trafficker) Daniel Noboa. The Italian-Ecuadorean businessman had had close links to Noboa even before he was chosen to lead the intelligence agency. Supposedly the group was on holiday and the accident was a 'normal' one.[2]
