Gavin Christopher Newsom is a US politician and businessman who has been the governor of California since January 2019. He was chosen as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2005.
Otto von Bolschwing
Gavin Newsomś father, Willam A. Newsom III, and later a judge for the 1st District Court of Appeals in San Francisco, worked closely together with the spook and former SS-Hauptsturmführer Otto von Bolschwing. In 1969 Bolschwing was given a high-level role with Trans-International Computer Investment Corporation (TCI), a Sacramento investment firm that was probably a CIA front.[1] One of his employeees, TCI’s attorney Willam A. Newsom III, traveled with him through Europe in 1969-70 on a business junket to exploit Bolschwing’s “extremely valuable connections and information in Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, the Netherlands, Antilles and South America.” Bolschwing had a side business importing wine from Argentina and was able to set up Newsom in the same business, thus creating the foundation for that would later make Gavin a winery multi-millionaire. Among TCI’s directors was J. Paul Getty Jr., son of the oil billionaire who was then the world's richest man.[2]
Career
Newsom created the company PlumpJack Winery in 1992 with the financial help of his family friend Gordon Getty, son of billionaire J. Paul Getty Jr.. Gordon Getty told the San Francisco Chronicle that he treated Newsom like a son and invested in his first business venture because of that relationship.[3]
Newsom's first political experience came when he volunteered in the Willie Brown political machine in Brown's successful campaign for mayor in 1995.
In 2003, at the age of 36, Newsom was elected the 42nd mayor of San Francisco, becoming the city's youngest mayor in a century.[4] Newsom was re-elected in 2007 with 72% of the vote.[5][6] Newsom was elected lieutenant governor of California in 2010 and was re-elected in 2014. He was elected governor in the 2018 election.
COVID Lockdown
From March 2020, Newsom was responsible for a protracted and strict lockdown and other measures in California, including mandatory use of face masks.
Showing what the really thinks of the danger, in November 2020, Newsom was caught dining indoors (formally a marquee) without a mask at the high-end French Laundry restaurant in Napa with a dozen other people, including lobbyist and friend Jason Kinney, in violation of his own restrictions that Newsom had placed on California restaurants. After being caught, he apologized.[8]
In February 2021, he again showed what he really thinks, when he ate at a restaurant in a county where indoor dining is prohibited. Formally, he was there to meet with the restaurant's owners who received a relief grant. According to his spokesperson, Newsom did not dine at the restaurant. However, social media observers noticed that behind the Governor was a table which had food and beverages and Newsom was allegedly inside the restaurant for over an hour.[9][10]
He survived a recall election on 14 September 2021.
Gillian-Barre syndrome
Newsom very likely got Gillian-Barre syndrome (GBS), a neurological disorder that can paralyze the face, shortly after his booster shot on October 27th 2021[11]. He dropped from public sight after the shot, including skipping the COP 26 climate summit, important for his peers, in favor of spending Halloween with his children.
Newsom and his family were Mexico from around November 22 to November 28 2021, possibly to get discreet stem cell treatment, a possible remedy for the GBS.[12]
Assisted suicide
In 2002, then San Francisco County Supervisor Newsom, by his own admission, participated in an assisted suicide, which violated state and federal laws. It was his mother, Tessa Thomas Newsom, 55, who suffered from advanced breast cancer.[13]
