The Havana gun is a weapons system that supposedly is able to create effects on humans like those that have been reported by people affected by the Havana syndrome. It was purchased by Homeland Security Investigations (subdivision of DHS) for "eight figures" as per initial reporting by CNN mid January 2026. It is said to work by sending "pulsed radio waves", containing some components of Russian origin.[1]
The CNN article about this device follows the kidnapping of Nicolas Maduro earlier the month. Towards the end of January, Trump made comments about a nonlethal weapons system that was used during the raid to suppress the guard troops of Maduro, termed the "Discombobulator".[2][3]
