Howard William Lutnick is the head of Cantor Fitzgerald who became United States secretary of commerce in February 2025.
9-11 narrow escape
On 9/11, hundreds of Cantor Fitzgerald employees were killed, as was Howard Lutnick's brother.[1] Lutnick himself however, CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald, was taking his son Kyle to his first day of kindergarten.[2]

In February 2025, Secretary of Commerce Lutnick, standing next to president Donald Trump on the occasion of the creation of a US "sovereign wealth fund" said "The extraordinary size and scale of the U.S. government and the business it does with companies ... should create value for American citizens. If we are going to buy 2 billion Covid vaccines, maybe we should have some warrants and some equity in these companies and have that grow for the help of the American people."[4]
