The Israel Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) is a US-Israeli think tank.
Own words
The Israel Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) is dedicated to the preservation and the propagation of joint values shared by the USA and the Zionist movement. The IISS initiative is endorsed by numerous public figures both in Israel and abroad, who include senior members of the Israeli government and the security establishment, the British House of Lords,European parliaments and renowned thinkers and intellectuals.[1] IISS strives to strengthen national resolve and convince the world that the Land of Israel belongs exclusively to the Jewish people.[2]
- 1. Say "no" to the creation of a Palestinian state.
- 2. Retain control of all the land west of the Jordan River.
- 3. Extend Sovereignty over all the land west of the Jordan River.
- 4. Incentivize Arab emigration.
- 5. Strongly assert Jewish historic, moral and legal rights to the land; disprove and delegitimize the false Arab narrative, which is designed to undermine these rights.
In 2017 Sherman labelled the Israeli opposition disloyal for calling the government fascist, and - feeling struck himself - asked "What self-respecting fascist regime would tolerate such recalcitrant behavior?"[3]
Extermination of Gaza
In March 2026 Martin Sherman wrote in the Jerusalem Post that
The only way Israel can ensure how the Gaza Strip will be governed, and who will govern it, is to govern it itself. Moreover, the only way Israel can govern the Gaza Strip without becoming an external oppressor of "another people" is to remove "the other people" from the confines of the Gaza Strip itself.[4]
In 2019,
As its implacable enemy, Israel has no moral obligation or practical interest in sustaining the economy or social order of the Palestinian-Arab collective - either in Gaza or Judea-Samaria. On the contrary, an overwhelming case can be made – on both ethical and pragmatic grounds – that it should let them collapse by refraining from providing it with any of the goods or services it – perversely – provides today: water, electricity, fuel, tax collection and port services to name but a few.[5]
