Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is an Iranian politician. He has a sizeable following on Twitter.
Background
Ahmadinejad was reportedly born into a Jewish family which converted to Islam when he was four years old. The Daily Telegraph reported in 2009 that Ahmadinejad's original family name was Sabourjian, which in Iran is officially listed as a Jewish name, meaning "cloth weaver" and on a list of reserved names for Iranian Jews compiled by Iran's Ministry of the Interior.[1] The newspaper published a picture of the Iranian president holding up his identity card during last year’s election campaign, in a way that shows his family's previous name.[2][3]
Activities
He was the President of Iran from 2005 to 2013.
Opinions
Ahmadinejad followed Iran's long-standing policy of refusing to recognize Israel. He supported Palestine and Venezuela.
