The label "mass murderer" is a powerful enemy image and is very selectively used. The label is rarely used about professional assassins, people who start or prolong war, sell dangerous goods or services. Typically, it is used to describe people who have mental health issues and killed people, seemingly at random or for superficial reasons such as racism or xenophobia.
