Political career
He sat in the cabinets of Stephen Harper. He resigned suddenly after he "left a confidential briefing book at the home of his girlfriend"[1] - which seems like a contrived excuse.[2]
Ran for leader of the Canadian Conservative Party in 2017; lost by 700 votes.
Started his new People's Party of Canada in 2018.
Lost his seat in 2019.
Running for Parliament at the 2021 Canadian federal election, running on a populist anti lockdown platform.[3]
Opinions
Opposes open borders. Bernier claimed Justin Trudeau is the "world's most prominent defender" of the Great Reset.[4]
