Michael Smeeth, a member of the executive body of the British-American Project (BAP), is married to former MP Ruth Smeeth.
The BAP describes itself as a “transatlantic fellowship of over 1,000 leaders, rising stars and opinion formers from a broad spectrum of occupations, backgrounds and political views.”[1]
He is married to Ruth Smeeth, who Wikileaks exposed as 'strictly protect' informant for the US embassy.[1]
Healthcare background
Michael Smeeth is Global Resiliency Leader for GE Distributed Power having previously been GE’s Commercial Director and Healthcare Director for the UK and Ireland.
Smeeth has had a wide-ranging career in healthcare business development, communications and corporate affairs, immediately prior to joining GE he ran a consultancy specialising in corporate and business development. He also previously was head of UK Healthcare for Fleishman Hillard International, Managing Director of Good Relations Healthcare, a Director of a London NHS Trust and ran Campaigns & Marketing for a major UK Trade Union.[2]
Other activities
He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a full member of the Institute of Directors and an executive board member of the British-American Project. He is a full member of the CIPR and helps run its Health and Medical Group. He is also a freeman of the Worshipful Company of Marketors, a Non-Executive Director for an out of hours healthcare provider and he sits on the editorial board of the Journal of Healthcare Management.
