Mormonism is a religious believe mostly in the US

Mormonism is the religious tradition and theology of the Latter Day Saint movement. One historian, Sydney E. Ahlstrom, wrote in 1982 that, depending on the context, the term Mormonism could refer to "a sect, a mystery cult, a new religion, a church, a people, a nation, or an American subculture; indeed, at different times and places it is all of these."[1][2]

History

The founder Joseph Smith started it in Western New York in the 1820s and 1830s. The Utah War (1857–1858) was an armed confrontation between the armed forces of the US government and the Mormon settlers in the Utah territory.[3] Into the first two decades of the 20th century, faithful, temple-attending Mormons, secretly took the "Oath of Vengeance",[4] to avenge the blood of fallen prophets against the Government of the United States.[5]

Concerns

The FBI and CIA recruit heavily from the Mormon population.[6][7]

Ritual abuse is reportedly happening in the community.[8]

Exposure

It has been the focus of several documentaries and investigative books since the 1980s.[9][10][11][12]
