Effectively a UN ambassador

A Permanent Representative to the UN, effectively a UN ambassador, often tends to be a post of importance to the deep state of the country concerned.

Similarly to Permanent Representatives to NATO, holders of these jobs quite often have an influence in the realm of deep politics which exceeds their public profile.
