Special Deterrence Force

The Special Deterrence Force (RADA) is a radical Islamist special operations military police unit formed in Tripoli Libya for the purpose of tackling crime in the political vacuum following the NATO bombing of Libya and the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.

High-profile kidnappings,^[1] murders, drug and alcohol poisoning related deaths, illegal migrant smuggling, weapons smuggling, explosives smuggling, terrorist attacks and plots and a lack of political power and police force in Tripoli led to the founding of RADA in 2012^[2] by its current leader Abdulrauf Kara.^[3]^[4]^[5]

RADA has been involved in tackling non-Islamic activities and dissidents within Tripoli, Libya, including fighting wars against Khalifa Haftar's Libyan National Army.^[6]
