Spokesman for the Institute for Statecraft and "Research and Staff Coordinator" of the Integrity Initiative with "Forty years of dealing with Russia"... “Definitely not secret service, I promise you.” Russo-British Chamber of Commerce director

Stephen Peter Cannon Dalziel is a spooky UK academic and suspected UK deep state operative who boasts "Forty years of dealing with Russia".[1] He has worked for the Institute for Statecraft and the Integrity Initiative. As of December 2018, he was listed as director of "The Integrity Initiative: Defending Democracy against Disinformation".[2] As a spokesman for the IfS, he told the Sunday Mail that he was not aware of their retweet that termed Jeremy Corbyn a "useful idiot".[3]

Career

"After graduating in 1981, Stephen spent a year on a TA attachment in the Army, serving as a 2nd Lt in the XV.XIX The King’s Royal Hussars in Paderborn, Germany. The Regiment’s role was as armoured reconnaissance in any future conflict, and Stephen spent time on patrols of the Inner German Border (between East and West Germany); at the start of the Berlin Corridor at Helmstedt; and in both parts of divided Berlin itself. One reason for Stephen spending time in the Army was to learn about the people he would be working with in his next incarnation. Returning from Germany, he joined the Soviet Studies Research Centre at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst."[1] Euan Grant describes Dalziel as "ex F&CO and BBC World Service"[4]

Activities

Stephen Dalziel is a member of the IfS "TOR Team" with a reported 15 years of experience. His job title is listed as "Institution building" and his other roles as "Cluster evaluation and development".[5]

A leaked budget proposal from the Integrity Initiative names Dalziel as "Research and Staff Coordinator" with a salary of £5,400/month.[6]

Russo-British Chamber of Commerce

On 9 July 2007 Dalziel became both secretary and director of the Russo-British Chamber of Commerce, a company of which Andrew Wood, another IfS member, was a director until 12 July 2007.[7]
