The Republican Party is one of the two main political parties available to US voters.

Criticism

Gary Allen wrote in Richard Nixon: The Man Behind The Mask (1971) that "The fact is that the Republican party is now little more than a name. America's two-party system has quietly been replaced by the virtual dictatorship of an "invisible government."[1] {{#subobject: |Has superobject=US/Republican Party |Has objectClass=Quotation |Has author=Mike Lofgren|+sep=, |Has text=“It should have been evident to clear-eyed observers that the Republican Party is becoming less and less like a traditional political party in a representative democracy and becoming more like an apocalyptic cult, or one of the intensely ideological authoritarian parties of 20th century Europe.” |Is about=US/Republican Party,Republican Party, cult|+sep=, |Has wikipediaPage= |Has location=|+sep=, |Has publicationDate=3 September 2011 |Sourced from=TruthOut |Has sourceDetails= |Has sourceTitle=Goodbye to All That: Reflections of a GOP Operative Who Left the Cult |Has sourceName=TruthOut |Has sourceURL=https://truthout.org/articles/goodbye-to-all-that-reflections-of-a-gop-operative-who-left-the-cult/

“It should have been evident to clear-eyed observers that the Republican Party is becoming less and less like a traditional political party in a representative democracy and becoming more like an apocalyptic cult, or one of the intensely ideological authoritarian parties of 20th century Europe.”

The GOP often has prominent members vowing to "destroy" the pedohiles, mostly in a polarising perspective regarding the Democratic Party[3][4]. What they don't address is their failure to keep them out out of their own ranks. A Reddit community has tracked over 46 republicans over a 2 year period convicted for rape of children, including kids as young as 5 year old, filming minors showering to leading sex trafficking rings.[5] Other lists over a longer timespan go up to about 1,500.[6]
