The University of Southern California is a private research university in Los Angeles, California. Founded in 1880 by Robert M. Widney, it is the oldest private research university in California.[1]
USC was one of the earliest nodes on ARPANET and is the birthplace of the Domain Name System.[2] Other technologies invented at USC include DNA computing, dynamic programming, image compression, VoIP, and antivirus software.[3][4][5]
USC's notable alumni include 11 Rhodes scholars and 12 Marshall scholars.[6][7]
COVID-19
During the COVID-19 event, USC required students and staff to use the USC Trojan-Check app in order to access campus. This involved completing daily "symptom checks", and providing "proof of vaccination" with COVID-19 vaccines as a vaccine passport.[8]
