Israeli deep politician who has been Prime Minister of Israel for three periods spanning four decades

Benjamin "Bibi" Netanyahu is an Israeli deep politician who has been Prime Minister of Israel since 2022, having previously been PM from 1996 to 1999 and from 2009 to 2021.[1][2] Netanyahu has been part of Israeli politics for so long and with such influence (influencing US foreign policy as well), several CCM have placed questions how that is still possible, openly calling him out for bribes or just a plain "con man" as numerous institutions including the national police force advised prosecuting him for bribery.[3][4]

Career

Soldier

Binyamin Netanyahu joined the Israeli Defence Force shortly after the Six-Day War in 1967 and became a team leader in the Sayeret Matkal special forces unit. He took part in many missions, including Operation Inferno (1968), Operation Gift (1968) and Operation Isotope (1972), during which he was shot in the shoulder. He fought on the front lines in the War of Attrition and the Yom Kippur War in 1973, taking part in special forces raids along the Suez Canal, and then leading a commando assault deep into Syrian territory.[5][6] He achieved the rank of captain before being discharged.

Deep Politician

After graduating from MIT, Netanyahu was recruited as an economic consultant for the Boston Consulting Group. He returned to Israel in 1978 to found the Yonatan Netanyahu Anti-Terror Institute, named after his brother Yonatan, who died leading the July 1976 Operation Entebbe. In 1979 this group convened the Jerusalem Conference on International Terrorism, which established the direction of the supranational deep state's "war on terror" project. In the 1980s this project was to frame the discourse about "terrorism" and "counter-terrorism" to try to legitimise actions taken by the Israeli government against Palestinians.[7] Binyamin Netanyahu was the Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations from 1984 to 1988.

Party politics

Netanyahu became the leader of the Likud party in 1993 and won the 1996 elections, becoming Israel's youngest ever Prime Minister, serving his first term from June 1996 to July 1999. He moved from the political arena to the private sector after being defeated in the 1999 election for prime minister by Ehud Barak. Netanyahu returned to politics in 2002 as Foreign Affairs Minister (2002–03) and Finance Minister (2003–05) in Ariel Sharon's governments, but he departed the government over disagreements regarding the Gaza disengagement plan. As Minister of Finance, Netanyahu engaged in a major reform of the Israeli economy, which was credited by commentators as having significantly improved Israel's subsequent economic performance.[8] He retook the Likud leadership in December 2005, after Sharon left to form a new party, Kadima. In December 2006, Netanyahu became the official Leader of the Opposition in the Knesset and Chairman of Likud. Following the 2009 parliamentary election, in which Likud placed second and right-wing parties won a majority,[9] Netanyahu formed a coalition government.[10][11] After the victory in the 2013 elections, he became the second person to be elected to the position of Prime Minister for a third term, after Israel's founder David Ben-Gurion. In March 2015, Netanyahu was elected to his fourth term as prime minister.[12][13][14]

“Benjamin Netanyahu is "elegant and charming", according to a cable apparently penned by an official at the U.S. embassy in Egypt, "but never keeps his promises".”
Wikileaks (2010)  [15]

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was a source to Stratfor Vice President for intelligence Fred Burton since at least May of 2007, according to internal Stratfor emails published by WikiLeaks. In an email dated May 1, 2007, Burton says that "BiBi [i.e. Netanyahu] believes he can unseat Olmert and there is a movement underway to do so." Not detailling what this movement inplied, another mail implied Hezbollah to be under US leadership.[16]

Iraq War

On 12 September 2002, Netanyahu testified under oath (as a private citizen) before the U.S. House of Representatives' "Committee on Oversight and Government Reform" about the nuclear threat posed by the Iraqi régime.[17] Six months later the United States, Britain and the coalition of the willing launched the Iraq War on the (false) premise that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) and that Saddam Hussein's government posed an imminent threat to the United States and its coalition allies.[18]

2015 Arrest petition

Following its launch in August 2015, a petition to the UK Government and Parliament was signed by over 100,000 people calling for Benjamin Netanyahu to be arrested for war crimes when he holds talks in London this September: "Under international law Netanyahu should be arrested for war crimes upon arrival in the UK for the massacre of over 2000 civilians in 2014."[19] None of the commercially-controlled media covered the story.

Once the petition reached 10,000 signers, the UK Government was obliged to respond, saying:

"Under UK and international law, certain holders of high-ranking office in a State, including Heads of State, Heads of Government and Ministers for Foreign Affairs are entitled to immunity, which includes inviolability and complete immunity from criminal jurisdiction."[20]

On 5 September 2015, The Times of Israel reported:

A petition on the British Parliament’s website urging the UK to arrest Netanyahu for “war crimes” has received more than 100,000 signatures, making the matter eligible for debate by lawmakers. The campaign reached its target on Saturday morning. Netanyahu will visit London this coming week for talks with British counterpart David Cameron. The two prime ministers are expected to discuss regional issues, with an emphasis on the Iran nuclear deal reached between world powers and Tehran on July 14. British officials told Channel 2 that Cameron plans to discuss the situation in the Gaza Strip, stalled Israeli-Palestinian peace talks, and the Syrian civil war.[21]

The Petitions Committee met on 8 September 2015 and reported:

"Because the Government said in its response that the request made by the petition was something that it was not able to do under UK and international law, the Committee agreed that it would not take any further action on the petition. It is still open to MPs who want a debate on this issue to find other opportunities, such as an application to the Backbench Business Committee."

On 9 September 2015, hundreds of protesters blocked the road outside 10 Downing Street as David Cameron met his "close friend" Benjamin Netanyahu. They included many Jews showing solidarity with the Palestinian people, and who also objected to Netanyahu's belief that Israel represents all of world Jewry.[22]

Welcoming the election of Donald Trump as the 45th President of the United States, Netanyahu said in a statement:

“President-elect Trump is a true friend of the state of Israel. We will work together to advance the security, stability and peace in our region. The strong connection between the United States and Israel is based on shared values, shared interests and a shared destiny."[23]

2017 Police interrogation

Watch on YouTube
Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is a dominating political force in Israel and beyond, is at the center of multiple political scandals. Cases of corruption have come up against Benjamin Netanyahu, and some of his closest advisors and confidants. Recently, police even recommended that Netanyahu be charged for his alleged involvement in two of the incidents. Even though Netanyahu has written these allegations off as a political “witch hunt” against him and “fake news” we want to explore what these cases are all about in the first place.

In January 2017, Netanyahu was interrogated at his home by Israeli police for three hours regarding alleged corruption.[24] In February 2018 Israeli police recommended indicting him for bribery.[25]

On January 4, 2026, President of the Beersheba District Court Judge Benny Sagi, who was the judge of Benjamin Netanyahu's corruption case, was killed after a vehicle crashed into his motorcycle while he was traveling on Route 6. According to the police, the vehicle was driving off-road, came up onto the highway, and hit Sagi.[26]

2023 Army desertion

Before a Hamas attack in 2023, dozens of Israeli air force reservists said 2 months earlier they’ll refuse to show up for duty if Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s right-wing government moves ahead with a contentious plan to overhaul the country’s judiciary.[27] Israeli Army suspended its navy commander 2 months before the attack.[28] A protest signed by thousands of reservists over the last seven months up to the attack, had mostly remained threats. Up to the attack, 161 critical air force personnel announced they will stop their service, raising concerns about the military’s readiness in the face of similar refusals at a time of heightened violence and tensions on several fronts. Hundreds of reservists from various units joined a rally in Tel Aviv in august 2023, declaring they would not report for duty anymore.[29]

2024 Criticism of "Genocide in Gaza"

On 1 June 2024, in a series of posts on X,[30] Senator Bernie Sanders said:

Benjamin Netanyahu is a war criminal. He should not be invited to address a joint meeting of US Congress. I certainly will not attend.[31]
Israel, of course, had the right to defend itself against the horrific Hamas terrorist attack of October 7th, but it did not, and does not, have the right to go to war against the entire Palestinian people.[32]
Israel does not have the right to kill more than 34,000 civilians. It does not have the right to orphan 19,000 children. It does not have the right to to annihilate Gaza’s health care system, knocking 26 hospitals out of service and killing more than 400 health care workers.[33]
It most certainly does not have the right to block humanitarian aid from coming in to the desperate people of Gaza, creating the conditions for starvation and famine. This is a clear violation of American and international law.[34]
The ICC is seeking warrants for the arrest of Netanyahu and Yahyah Sinwar, the leader of Hamas. The ICC is right. Both of these people are engaged in clear and outrageous violations of international law.[35]

Pager threat

File:Trump Netanyahu pager.png
In February 2025, in what could be interpreted as either gloating or a threat to the rest of the world, Netanyahu gave President Donald Trump a golden pager mounted on a slice of wood, in reference to the 2024 Lebanon pager explosions.[36]

Covid jab as Pearl Harbor

File:Netanyahu Syringe Covid.png
Netanyahu kept a syringe with a "covid jab" which he allegedly received mounted in a glass cabinet in his office. "Every time someone visits from abroad, I show them this arrowhead," Netanyahu says in the video, gesturing to a display case in his office featuring a replica of a Roman arrowhead from Yodfat, which he explains is the first Galilee fortress to fall to the Romans. "I tell them, that's the Romans, they're not here anymore..."And now I show them something else, another arrow," he continues, moving onto a second display case bearing the single syringe. The base of display has a plaque bearing one of Netanyahu's own quote: "One small shot for man, one giant step for the health of us all."[37]

As Prime Minister during Covid, Netanyahu instigated a system of lockdowns and vaccine passports in order to force through coerced injections. The reference to Pearl Harbor was also used before 9/11. {{#subobject: |Has superobject=Benjamin Netanyahu |Has objectClass=Quotation |Has author=Benjamin Netanyahu|+sep=, |Has text=“When the planes landed with the massive containers of vaccines, that was one of the most exciting moments in all my years as prime minister, because I felt that this was more or less like when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, you knew it was already the beginning of the end.” |Is about=Benjamin Netanyahu,Pearl Harbor,Covid jab|+sep=, |Has wikipediaPage= |Has location=|+sep=, |Has publicationDate=June 2021 |Sourced from= |Has sourceDetails= |Has sourceTitle= |Has sourceName= |Has sourceURL=https://www.timesofisrael.com/netanyahu-likens-1st-vaccines-arrival-in-israel-to-bombing-of-pearl-harbor/

“When the planes landed with the massive containers of vaccines, that was one of the most exciting moments in all my years as prime minister, because I felt that this was more or less like when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, you knew it was already the beginning of the end.”
