Chandni Chopra is a Palestine Solidarity Campaign activist and the Chair of Newcastle PSC.
She is a solicitor and was one of three Green Party Councillors elected in Heaton ward on Newcastle City Council on 7 May 2026.[1]
PSC activist
From September 2014, Chandni Chopra travelled throughout the West Bank, Palestine with members of the Labour Party, to document human rights abuses taking place against the Palestinians.
She conversed with Palestinian political parties, media, journalists, human rights organisations and lawyers specialising in the field of international law/Geneva Convention to document specific cases of human right abuse.
She has since actively campaigned to raise awareness in the UK through PSC of the situation on the ground in Palestine.[2]
Smeared by Labour
Early in April 2026, Labour chair Anna Turley warned that electing Green candidates could open the door to “crackpot conspiracy theorists” and called on Zack Polanski to take action. Turley provided The Independent with a dossier and told the newspaper:
- “It’s truly astounding that the Green Party is standing crackpot conspiracy theorists peddling rotten antisemitism.
- “Rather than throwing his arms open and welcoming them into his party, Zack Polanski should act. He must urgently withdraw his party’s support for all of these candidates and make clear that these views are abhorrent.”
Traduced by The Independent
On 10 April 2026, in an article by Political Editor David Maddox, The Independent went on to traduce Chandi Chopra:
- Chandni Chopra, who is standing for Newcastle City Council, argued that the October 7 attack on Israel, which saw at least 828 civilians, including 36 children, murdered, was justified.[3]
- Days after the October 7 attack, Ms Chopra posted on Instagram: “In the face of the biased mainstream media, it is apparent that the Palestinians' legal right to resist is being portrayed as barbarism and unwarranted.”[4]
Abandoned by the Greens
Interviewed on The Crispin Flintoff Show on 17 May 2026, Chandni Chopra explained how she and the other smeared candidates had been abandoned by the Green Party.[5]
