Face masks that are used to realistically imitate other people

A special effects face mask is a mask made of latex or silicone, which is worn over the head to give the wearer another appearance or to specifically imitate another person. These have been developed and perfected in film-making (Hollywood), but the same quality level of masks is used by intelligence agencies as well. These have been developed to a level that convinces even at close distance.

Former US CENTCOM commander Robert Harward was interviewed on FOX on 19th May 2026 for a news segment ("America’s Newsroom").[1] Harward looked visibly rejuvenated compared to interviews in the months before and his throat area had what was identified as the end of a special effects face mask that was not attached to his skin, ie was not properly hidden. The controversy was discussed in the commercially-controlled media [2][3][4] and Breaking Points.[5] Fox shortly after clarified that it was all due to lighting conditions by an "outside vendor" [6] and Harward was invited by Stinchfield Tonight to calm the rumors, with the host having a pseudo confident laugh about the allegations and asking Harward to remove his mask ("can you pull on your face or something").[7][8]

Another instance like this is claimed to have happened with Mike Pompeo [9] and also with a Kamala Harris a few years before.[2]
