Narrative control team
though be advised that the official narrative is particularly suspect.

| A group of people who coordinate secretly attempt to control a narrative. The concept gelled in the 2010s from experiments in online narrative control. On the internet, a group promoted with money and/or visibility by big tech to act as a more credible alternative to the too obvious shills in legacy corporate media. | |
A narrative control team is a group of people who try to control a narrative. This will typically include many strategies, but will have only two broad aims:
- Promotion of a single official narrative or a range of acceptable narratives;
- Silencing dissenting voices by whatever means are necessary.
In the 21st century, many of the members of a narrative control team tend to be podcasters, some of whom have spent years establishing a legend of their independence.
One of the more important teams of recent years is "Team Worst Case Scenario" who demonstrably worked together in the public eye since 2020 to exacerbate fear of Covid, to quell any discussion about the proportionality of the measures termed "Covid response" and particularly to prevent discussion about whether the "Covid tests" and "Covid jabs" really corresponded to a novel pathogen.
Method
The technique of narrative control teams builds on insights developed through the Asch conformity experiments, into how people can be induced into ignoring the evidence of their own eyes and ears.
Historical precedents

The modern pejorative meaning of the phrase "conspiracy theory" can be traced directly to a 1963 memo by Nicholas Katzenbach, two days after the JFK assassination. As US Deputy Attorney General he instructed the White House Press Secretary (Bill Moyers) that "The public must be satisfied that Oswald was the assassin; that he did not have confederates who are still at large; and that the evidence was such that he would have been convicted at trial. Speculation about Oswald's motivation ought to be cut off..." The declassified 1968 memo, Document:Countering Criticism of the Warren Report is illustrative reading in the regard, instructing its readers that "We do not recommend that discussion of the assassination question be initiated where it is not already taking place", but that they should undertake "To employ propaganda assets to [negate] and refute the attacks of the critics".
"The plumbers"

As Russ Baker documents in Family Of Secrets, the so-called "plumbers" were a kind of proto-narrative control team conceived to implicate Richard Nixon, but through their coordinated actions rather than words.
Recent rise in importance
In 2016 the controllers of commercially-controlled media launched the "Fake News Website" project, an attempt to address their steady declining popularity by scaring people away from the internet back to television and newspapers. This backfired dramatically, instead creating the phrase "fake news]" and driving people towards websites, where references are easily given and checked, alternative opinions easily found. As a result, a large effort was made to research alternative mean to corral public opinion and shift Overton windows in predictable ways. The result was the dramatic expansion of internet based narrative control teams.
In February 2024, podcaster Joe Rogan signed a multiyear deal with Spotify worth as much as $250 million.[2]

David Icke [3]
David Icke coined the term "Mainstream alternative media" (MAM). Icke analyzed that that the billionaire Elon Musk is creating a cross-promotional network of journalists designed to direct and control "alternative media", and to lure especially "conservatives" into a dead end:[4] Amazing Polly also looked at this development [5]
Since 2020, Jonathan Jay Couey interacted with dozens of people while researching the "Covid-19" phenomenon. He became frustrated with their inability to adapt their ideas to evidence he presented and concluded that they were mostly not the independent truth seekers they purported to be but in fact scripted actors. In late 2023 he named the group “Team Worst Case Scenario” to highlight one of their key points of contact; although differing in lots of ways, the messages brought by the group members all tended to stoke fear of Covid-19.
