The Romanian deep state is not yet well documented here. Ion Iliescu, a Romanian visitor to Le Cercle, was twice President of Romania.

The Romanian deep state received two large reboots in the 20th century. In 1945 when the Communist government took over from the monarchy. The other major change happened in 1989, when with the 1989 revolution against Nicolae Ceausescu and his government. Unlike in most other Eastern European countries, many Romanian deep state operatives from the security apparatus instigated and actively led the 1989 events, and these people have kept the real power ever since.

1989 revolution

The 1989 Timisoara massacre was a false flag, where previously deceased from natural causes were dug up and presented as victims of government torture and massacres.

The 1989 revolution against Nicolae Ceausescu and the Communist government had a significant helping hand from abroad, as described by CIA officer Robert Baer and others. [1] Romania was one of the last communist governments in Eastern Europe to collapse. Capitalizing on popular discontent, the revolution seems to have been commandeered by people in the security apparatus, who have led the country since. To this day, the events are not fully understood.

Also the Hungarian and German ethnic minorities, long infiltrated by Western intelligence agencies, played a role in the uprising. Romanian President (2014-) of German ethnicity Klaus Iohannis is a client of the German state.Template:Cn

Noticeably, the revolution included a false massacre in Timisoara 1989, something that would have required professional staging. Presented as a massacre where 4,630 people died, the images of lines of bodies, broadcast around the world, turned out to have been people who died recently from other causes and had been dug up to be presented as victims of government torture.[2]

1990s

The deep state operatives (like Ion Iliescu) who took power in 1989 was in office until 1996, then again from 2000-2004. Mugur Isărescu‎ became Governor of the Romanian Central Bank in September 1990. Sergiu Celac attended the 1992 Cercle meeting in Vienna.

21st Century

2000s

Ion Iliescu, a Romanian visitor to Le Cercle, was President of Romania again from 2000-2004. His successor, Călin Popescu-Tăriceanu, attended the 2015 Cercle meeting in Monaco. Sorin Ducaru, a diplomat member of the European Council on Foreign Relations and the Global Commission on the Stability of Cyberspace attended several Brussels Fora and MSC meetings, mostly in the 2010s and 2020s.

2010s

After visiting the HFX 2009, diplomat and politician Bogdan Aurescu attended several further spooky meetings in the 2010s and 2020s. Ovidiu Tender, a Romanian businessman magnate sentenced in 2014 to 11 years for fraud and money laundering, knew Willem Matser, and possibly also Matthijs van Bonzel, the Dutch ambassador. Nelu Iordache was photographed dining with Stella Ronner-Grubačić, Dutch ambassador and Petru Pitcovici.

2020s

The 2024-2025 presidential election was rigged. The authorities annulled the first round in early December on the pretext that the frontrunner was Russian-backed.[3] Calin Georgescu was ultimately barred from running again and instead appointed his ally, George Simion, in his place. Simion came out on top in early May’s first-round re-do, only to lose the second round. He said that friendlier diaspora polling stations didn't have enough ballots. Traditional fraud like ballot-stuffing was also suspected.[4] Meanwhile, Telegram founder Pavel Durov revealed that he rejected the French intelligence chief's request to ban conservative Romanian accounts, thus showing the international stakes in this election. [5] The French-educated mayor of Bucharest Nicusor Dan was installed.[6]

COVID-19

Romania had a low uptake of COVID jabs.Template:Cn

"The question is to what extent the deep state of Romania is in control of the mockery of democracy ruled over by Klaus Iohannis since the Ceauşescu couple’s murder. If it is still the case that the deep state holds power, then Iohannis is probably close to his political end, with Covid-19 lighting the fuse."[7]
