Brandy Vaughan was an activist best known for speaking out against the pharmaceutical industry and vaccines; founder of Learn The Risk, a vaccine awareness non-profit organization.^[1] She worked for Merck between 2001-2004.

Career

She was initially a pharmaceutical employee who sold Vioxx, a painkiller medication sold by the company Merck^[2]. It eventually came to light that Vioxx was found to double the risk of stroke and heart attacks in people. Merck continued to distribute the painkillers^[3], knowing its prospective dangers. The medical journal The Lancet estimates that 88,000 Americans had heart attacks from taking Vioxx, of whom 38,000 died young as a result^[4]. Merck, eventually settled the biggest pharma lawsuit in history, to the tune of 4.85 billion US dollars^[5] to thousands of people.

After leaving her job, Brandy Vaughan lived in Europe for 8 years with her son.^[8]

Disavowal of suicide

In December 2019, Brandy Vaughan explicitly stated that she would never commit suicide, stating "I’ve NEVER had any thoughts of taking my own life, not once, ever. Even before I had my son...".^[9]^[10]^[11]

Death

Vaughan was found dead by her son on 7 December 2020.^[12] Erin Elizabeth wrote on December 8^th, that there will be an independent autopsy. Vaughan did relate (see video below) that she was fearful for attacks on her life ^[13] and her house had been broken into several times.^[14]^[15]

On December 16, 2020, a spokesperson for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that investigators wouldn’t determine the cause of her death until completion of a toxicology screening,^[9] the final review in February 2021 stating that she died from a blood clot in an artery while passed out from gallbladder complications.^[16]^[17]^[18]

Brandy Vaughan's message resonated with J. J. Couey, who discovered her in early 2025. He subsequently made many references to her "ingestion not injection" philosophy, which matched his own view that intra-muscular injection of any combination of substances is an unsuitable way to try to assist the immune system. Her website (LearnTheRisk.org) is continued by others.
