“As the Establishment feels its grip slipping, as people wake up to the appalling economic exploitation by the few that underlies the very foundations of modern western society, expect the methods used by the security services to become even dirtier. You can bank on continued ramping up of Russophobia to supply “the enemy”. As both Scottish Independence and Jeremy Corbyn are viewed as real threats by the British Establishment, you can anticipate every possible kind of dirty trick in the next couple of years, with increasing frequency and audacity.”
Craig Murray (December 2018)  [1]

2020 was an exciting, frightening and unprecedented year for many people that "began with a run on toilet tissue and ended in totalitarianism."[2] Helen Buyniski in RT termed it "a terrible time to be a free speech advocate".[3] The WHO announced that the SARS-Cov2 virus was a global pandemic that represented a grave threat to all of humanity. In March Kevin Ryan predicted that "More Will Die from the Response to COVID-19 Than From the Virus".[4]

Death statistics did not bear out the unprecedented claims of the "Worst Case Scenario" Covid fearmongers. First hand reports of serious Covid sceptics were met with unprecedented Internet censorship, and freedom of movement curtailed, all in a nominal response to COVID-19. This directly contradicted their existing pandemic advice (which explicitly stated that shutting businesses would be ineffective at controlling spread of viruses), but closely followed the script of Event 201, a "pandemic planning" drill. This lead people to suggest that it was part of a psychological operation[5]. Resistance grew over 2020 as people became aware of the extent of official gaslighting about the purported disease. After intense surveying of the public mood in many countries, experimental gene therapy injections referred to as "COVID vaccines" were introduced with much fanfare at the end of 2020.

COVID-19

Longtime partners Peter Daszak and Zhengli Shi. Daszak's EcoHealth moved US money to the Wuhan Institute of Virology to perform "gain-of-function" research on naturally occurring bat coronaviruses. Shi headed the WIV project to manipulate the viruses. Daszak anonymously wrote a joint statement to the Lancet condemning "conspiracy theories" that COVID-19 was of non-natural origins, and authored Ignore the conspiracy theories: scientists know Covid-19 wasn't created in a lab for The Guardian without declaring any conflicted interests in either case. Later he "investigated" the origins of COVID and declared the virus zoonotic.

It was first reported in December 2019 in Wuhan. On 11 January 2020, China published a full gene sequence of the SARS-CoV2.

Origins

The Western commercially-controlled media initially promoted an official narrative of COVID-19 as having arisen from zoonotic transfer after consumption of bushmeat by Chinese in Wuhan, the so-called "lone bat" theory. The scientific literature of "gain of function" research on coronaviruses by members of the Wuhan Institute of Virology was something of a third rail topic,[6] and the WIV took many related scientific papers offline after concerns were raise.[When?]Template:Cn

US / China origin?

Commentators including Ron Unz linked the emergence of Covid-19 to the sudden and unexplained closure of Fort Detrick, a BSL-4 facility in USA, and noted the supposed vaping disease which killed young adults in the US. In April 2020, the Western commercially-controlled media abruptly changed their official narrative to suggest that the virus may have emerged from the WIV. This was rolled back until early 2021, when the so-called "lab leak" hypothesis was favoured. Deliberate creation has been more than hinted at, but not deliberate release. Commercially-controlled media has said nothing about the role of Bilderbergers or WEF Global Leaders for Tomorrow/Young Global Leaders in COVID-19.

International spread

In February the highly contagious nature of the virus became clear after the disease spread widely through asymptomatic transmission in South Korea.

On Janury 15, the CDC issued warnings on pneumonia.[clarification needed] Later in January the CDC explicitly prohibited test for COVID-19.

On February 2, the US banned entry of all Chinese nationals, and foreign nationals who had been in China in the previous 14 days. During F

On 2 March stopped releasing data on tests and deaths related to COVID.

Global panic

Daily Mail coverage from 12 February 2020.

In January and February 2020, disturbing images of the virus were published from China. On 11 March 2020, the WHO declared the COVID-19 outbreak to be a global pandemic. The WHO secretary general's, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced a mortality rate for the virus of "about 3.4%", which fuelled panic about the disease.

Lockdowns

Starting in March 2020, governments imposed severe restrictions on freedom of movement, nominally an effort to reduce spread of "the virus" -- although these measures were specifically advised against in the WHO's own planning documents. These did not correlate with reduced Covid cae statics, but were correlated with increased stress and reduced IQ of babies born.[7]

Internet censorship

Full article: Internet censorship

In January 2020, the president of the World Jewish Congress, Ronald Lauder stated that "Speeches are not enough to stop antisemitism" and "blamed the internet for spreading hate against Jews, and called for greater legislation to police hate crime".[8]

COVID censorship

Full article: COVID-19/Censorship

Censorship was rampant of anyone questioning the official narrative about whether COVID-19 was really the existential threat or whether COVID lockdowns were a helpful response to the virus. Discussion of how to treat Covid-19 was suppressed, making ivermectin, fluvoxamine and hydroxychloroquine third rail topics.

Regime changes

In late March, a US plot to depose Venezuela's President Nicholas Maduro in a coup was exposed, although commercially-controlled media did not report widely about it.[10]

Pierre Nkurunziza, President of Burundi since 2005, did not follow the WHO guidelines about COVID-19 and expelled WHO advisors from the country in May 2020. On 8 June he died. Nkurunziza's close friend and fellow COVID dissident, John Magufuli (President of Tanzania), died in March 2021.

Social change

While the excess mortality (most evident in March and April 2020) were within the range of historic pandemics, the social changes that occurred in 2020 were unprecedented in modern history. Generally with only minimal show "democratic" influence, governments around the world — particularly in the "developed" nations — afforded themselves the right the violate standing laws and precedents such as limiting freedom of assembly, freedom of movement and even freedom of speech.

Unemployment increased sharply, as did suicide and mental health difficulties in general.Template:Cn The murder rate increased 30% in the US.[11]
